With Christmas right around the corner, I’ve teamed up with First Canadian Place and Exchange Tower to bring y’all my gift guide for HIM + HER…

Ladies first! Shopping for others can be tough, especially for the opposite sex, but ya gotta take notes gents! Unless she’s given you her top 5, there are a few things you can do to grab ideas. Pinterest is your new best friend — check her board to see what she’s pinning for ideas. Or go shopping with her (yes, in her stores), and make mental notes of things she’s keen on but not ready to pull the trigger for.  But since we’re running a little short on time, let me help y’all out!

Carving out time to shop for friends and family can be tough with our daily schedules. In my case, finding a way to sneak out for a couple of hours from my wife to shop for her is challenging — I’m a terrible liar. So convenience and efficiency matters. I need a place that caters to all the folks on my list to shop for, and I’m going to need to be in and out as fast as I can. With First Canadian Place and Exchange Tower right in the heart of the Financial District, it makes for an easy stop before heading home for those that work or live downtown. For those of you that can’t make it on a weekday/weeknight, leading up to Christmas, First Canadian Place and Exchange Tower will be open every Saturday with free parking underground. If you’re like me and aren’t exactly a pro at wrapping gifts, they’ve got a station with folks happy to help wrap your gifts before you take them home! So, with all things considered, it’s become my go-to spot because I’ll get everything I need completed, all in one place.

So let’s get started…when it comes to Christmas this year for your lady, go for some: 1. Sparkle, 2. Style, and 3. Comfort. When I gift, I’m all about making it an experience. Keeping in mind of what Steph likes, style and function are equally important. I also know she loves a little luxury, so I’ll splurge on one item. With help of the great retailers at FCP, here are three gifts you can get her that she’ll love…

1. Some Sparkle – BIRKS – Stud Earrings

Walking into Birks, I was immediately enthralled by all of the options. So my key tip is to narrow down the type of jewelry and set a budget for yourself. For Steph, I know that her style is classic and she keeps her jewelry minimalist. So I immediately gravitated towards stud earrings. With the help of the sales associate in store, she was able to work within the provided budget and offer the best options. The Birks Silver White Quartz Stud Earrings at $325.00, are my top pick. This would be the splurge gift, but I was shocked at how much they resembled the size of 2-carat diamond studs. So in hindsight, they are the more economical option! The boxing is small enough that it might give away what the item is if you were to put it under the tree — try sliding it into her stocking or hang onto it until the day of.

My top pick from Birks: Silver White Quartz Stud Earrings

2. Style – HANGAR 9 – Boots

Knowing her affinity towards comfortable and stylish boots, my next stop was at Hangar 9. They’ve got a great selection of women’s clothing, bags, shoes and accessories. After seeking out opinions from the helpful ladies at the store, I started to think of a pair that Steph already loves — Stuart Weitzman knee-high boots. She’s got a pair of these boots in grey and mentioned that she wanted black boots. So, my key tip here is…sometimes you gotta play it safe! Get your lady something she may already have and love, but in another colour.

My top pick from Hangar 9: Stuart Weitzman black knee-high boots.

3. Comfort – HANGAR 9 – Scarf

While at Hangar 9, I saw a little something to keep her warm this winter — a blanket scarf. Trust me, she’ll love you for this one on those cold winter evenings!

Another pick from Hangar 9: Cashmere blanket scarf

Lastly, grab a bottle of her favourite bubbly from the LCBO located on the lower level at First Canadian Place — after opening those gifts, how about a toast to a successful gifting!

For the stylish man in your life, here are 5 gift ideas for HIM…

1. Sweater – Harry Rosen

Let’s start with a great basic — a grey cashmere sweater. Layered over a plaid shirt, he’ll be looking sharp for Holiday dinners. It’s a gift that’s neutral and a versatile piece.

2. Gloves – Harry Rosen

A pair of leather gloves is a great accessory gift that he’s sure to get a lot of use from year over year. Black leather is a safe bet — it should go with all of his jackets and wardrobe.

3. Scarf – Harry Rosen

Being that it’s my one-stop-shop for menswear, my third and final pick from Harry Rosen is this Canali Scarf. Now this is definitely a splurge item priced a little over $200. Harry Rosen offers a variety of luxury brands, but if you’re looking for a wool/cashmere scarf, they’ve got some great options at lower prices as well.

4. Wallet – Sleuth & Statesman

Specializing in leather goods and accessories, Sleuth & Statesman has a great selection of wallets, cases, and bags. My top pick is this Mont Blanc wallet — it’s sleek and super nice. It’s another splurge item priced over $200, but it’s a great stand-alone gift that he’ll surely love.

5. Shaving Kit – Maverick Studio For Men

Lastly, how about treating him to a shaving kit. As men, we’re not always the best with taking care of our skin and could use a little help. Maverick Studio For Men, is one of the coolest looking barbershops that also offers great pre and post-shave creams. If he could use an upgrade, this might end up being one of his favourite gifts!

I hope this gift guide helps you with shopping for that him or her ahead of the holidays! Be sure to visit the First Canadian Place and Exchange Tower on weekdays 9am-6pm and on Saturdays (until December 17th) from 11am-5pm. Not normally open on Saturdays during the year, if you want to skip lineups and enjoy a stress-free holiday shopping experience, this is your place. Free parking, Free coat & parcel check, Free gift wrapping, and a fun holiday photo booth!
