BUILD YOUR LOOK: LAYERING

The ‘Build Your Look’ series is all about taking one or two pieces from your wardrobe
and styling them three different ways. Today, I’m styling a casual blue button-up shirt
and layering it for three different looks to take from day to night. Let’s get started…

Whether you’re headed to brunch or running some errands, roll up those sleeves and

dress the weather with a pair of shorts. This look is all about dressing up comfort. I

went with a polka-dot blue linen shirt for this look to add a little pattern and texture

to the overall look – however you can play it conservative with the traditional cotton

button up featured in the next two looks. Add some reflective shades and your boat

shoes and you’ll be lookin’ as cool as blue. I wear my boat shoes all throughout the

Spring/Summer – wear them with shorts, denim, or chinos.

So you’re invited to a dinner but you’re impartial about what to wear: stick with

the button up or throw on the blazer? Play it safe and add a thin sweater instead.

It doesn’t scream overdressed and isn’t too casual to be out of place. With a solid

blue base underneath, go with some stripes for your sweater. The jeans complete

the overall look – skinny or slim fit. Add a pair of oxford shoes for good measure.

Not a fan of the jeans? I’ve linked different washes and fits below to wear instead:

So you hear that dinner is at that fancy restaurant, take the shirt + sweater combo one

step further by adding a blue blazer. You might be heading to the dinner with it, but it

makes for the perfect jacket for Her, on the way home. This nautically inspired look is

as equally sharp as it is fresh. Wear it downtown, uptown, or to dinner by the beaches.

Either way, you’ll be the best dressed dude in the room.
